BEM is currently seeking a motivated, detailed-oriented candidate with a B.S. in Geology, along with 0 – 2 years of work experience. To qualify, you will need good verbal/written communication skills and a high level of comfort working in the field. 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training a plus. Although you will primarily support projects in our headquarters office in Chatham, NJ; you may also be required to support field assignments in other office and project locations throughout the U.S. (including Alaska and internationally). Out-of-town assignments will be periodic and could be several weeks in duration.

To qualify, you will need good verbal/written communication skills, as well as a high level of comfort working both in the office and in the field. Familiarity with Microsoft Office is required. 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training a plus. Although you will primarily support projects in our headquarters office in Chatham, NJ; you may also be required to provide support at project sites outside NJ.
Specific office duties may include engineering data compilation and analysis; and preparation of written work products such as work plans, reports, design plans and specifications. Field activities will include site assessments and inspections, collection of environmental samples, and oversight of contractors. Experience with Auto-CAD a plus.

Environmental Engineer
BEM Systems, Inc. (BEM), a nationwide full-service environmental consulting firm providing innovative solutions to complex environmental and health & safety issues facing private industry, state agency and federal government clients, has an immediate opportunity in our Fairfax, Virginia location for an Environmental Engineer with 5-7 years of experience to support complex environmental DoD and Transportation projects, including remedial and compliance programs.
Technical project tasks may include overseeing UST removal and closures and installing ASTs, monitoring well installations, managing petroleum remedial treatment systems, conducting Phase I/II/III, preparing and reviewing compliance plans and permits, and report writing associated with RCRA, NEPA, and CWA requirements. Other responsibilities may include budget management, proposal preparation, and schedule preparation. Excellent writing skills and working knowledge of computer applications are a must. Experience with database and GIS applications a plus.
Although you will primarily support projects from our Fairfax, VA location; you may also be required to provide support at project sites outside VA (including Alaska and internationally).
BS/MS in Environmental Engineering or related field. 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training a plus.
