Representative Project Summaries
Brownfields Site Redevelopment
BEM
is currently assisting this client with a brownfields
development project involving the construction of a
commercial hotel.
Information obtained during investigation activities
conducted by BEM determined that the site was previously
a sanitary landfill.
On behalf of our client, BEM obtained a Landfill Closure
Plan Approval through the lead regulatory agency, which
allowed redevelopment of the property to proceed. Based
on site investigation activities conducted by BEM, it
was determined that contamination on-site was limited
and remedial actions during construction of the hotel,
such as excavation and off-site disposal, were not necessary
for the site. BEM prepared a Soil Reuse Plan to allow
contaminated soils to be reused on-site below a 2-foot
clean cap. The plan was subsequently approved by the
regulatory agency and a no further action (NFA) determination
was granted.
