BEM is keenly aware that transportation agencies face
a wide range of environmental challenges through the
different phases of project scope, engineering design,
right-of-way acquisition and construction. Designing
efficient but holistic environmental programs is therefore
essential to assist transportation agencies in meeting
their objectives during the development of complex infrastructure
projects, maintaining or rehabilitating existing infrastructure,
or simply delivering transportation services that promote
environmental stewardship and sustainability.
Whether for highways, bridges, tunnels, airports, seaports
or rail systems, BEM supports our clients with a full
range of environmental services. These services seamlessly
integrate Environmental Impact Statements (EIS), site
investigations, remedial designs, property valuations
and construction management phases within the transportation
projects BEM is experienced in developing environmental
best management practices to reduce waste generation
and improve pollution prevention.
BEM is proud of having achieved several "firsts"
in the industry, including:
- Development of the first property acquisition environmental
cost estimate concept, "PAECE", since adopted
by several transportation agencies;
- First regulatory acceptance of immunoassay field
screening techniques for emergency cleanup and site
restoration, and
- First regulatory acceptance of a 20-mile corridor
as one project site representing a savings to the
client of more than $15 million.
