Waste Minimization, Pollution Prevention and Recycling

Pollution prevention strategies utilized by BEM have included assessing diversified workplace issues and their impact on waste generation. We have evaluated chemical products, applications, work practices, sampling and analytical methodologies, waste classifications and alternatives. Since implementation of the Pollution Prevention Act of 1990, BEM has worked to assist clients in achieving and/or exceeding waste reduction goals. Our approach begins with an audit of operations and inventories of waste streams. We then assist our clients in the substitution, reduction, or elimination of waste streams with consideration of costs, labor, effectiveness of new or revised methods, and anticipated waste reduction. BEM often uses education programs designed to help workers understand the impact of wastes generated and the value of waste reduction strategies.
