Industrial Hygiene and Safety
Ergonomics
The goal of BEM’s ergonomics program is to prevent
injuries associated from improper material handling or improper
workstation designs that contribute to employee discomfort,
or which chronically impact the employee and their completion
of routine business activities. By using a combination of
work activity simulations, video benchmarking, specific measurements,
computer modeling, and on-site visual observations, BEM can
effectively identify problem areas, determine the appropriate
level of response, and propose feasible workplace or work
activity modifications.
For example, musculoskeletal injuries have increased over
the years as a result of the proliferation of computers. BEM
ergonomists have developed programs to minimize this type
of injury and other similarly-caused ailments such as Computer
Vision Syndrome (CVS).
BEM has assisted in developing comprehensive ergonomics programs
for various government and private sector clients, which have
included risk assessment, medical case management, training
exercise/break routines, and control measures. BEM has developed
and implemented a corporate-wide ergonomic program and training.
We have performed comprehensive safety/ergonomics assessment
reviews and assisted various clients in the preparation and
implementation of ergonomics programs. BEM has developed several
ergonomic training programs that include workshops and video
training methods.
